analysis of semantics

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
In human’s life communication, getting understood what other people say is not easy. It is because the way how people communicate each other varies. The variety of how they communicate could be expressed by many things, such as using oral speaking, movement, written words in a song, poem, etc. At the same opportunity, many linguistic branches are developed to study about human communication, such as Semantics, morphology, pragmatic and so’on.
In real communication, understanding what peole say becomes the important part to discuss. It is intended to get the intended messages from what the person says to someone. As a result, communication takes place among people as well as they can understand each other and what the other say. Then semantic will be the linguistic branch that will give a broad understanding about human communication. Semantic is linguistic branch which studies about meaning. There are two aspects of meaning that will be concerns. They are lexical and contextual meaning
Actually, people can interact with other people through many ways. One of them is Song. Many people interact with others through song. It is not surprising as song is part of what people need to consume every day. What can be found in song is that the messages which the song maker wants to deliver to the listener.  In this research, I will analyze the lyric of song Grenade and the singer is Bruno mars.

CHAPTER II
ANALYSIS
2.1  The Song Lyric
Grenade – bruno mars

Easy come, easy go, that's just how you live
Oh, take, take, take it all but you never give
Should've known you was trouble from the first kiss
Had your eyes wide open, why were they open?

Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, you did
To give me all your love is all I ever asked
'Cause, what you don't understand is

I'd catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on a blade for ya
I'd jump in front of a train for ya
You know I'd do anything for ya

Reff:
I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for you, baby
But you won't do the same
No, no, no, no

Black, black, black and blue,
beat me 'til I'm numb Tell the devil I said, hey,
when you get back to where you're from
Bad women, bad women, that's just what you are, yeah
You'll smile in my face then rip the brakes out my car

Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, yes, you did
To give me all your love is all I ever asked
'Cause what you don't understand is

I'd catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on a blade for ya
I'd jump in front of a train for ya
You know I'd do anything for ya

I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for ya, baby
But you won't do the same

If my body was on fire
Ooh, you'd watch me burn down in flames
You said you loved me, you're a liar
'Cause you never, ever, ever did, baby

But darling, I'd still catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on a blade for ya
I'd jump in front of a train for ya
You know I'd do anything for ya

I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for you, baby
But you won't do the same
No, you won't do the same
You wouldn't do the same
Ooh, you never do the same No, no, no, no
